The rejex instructions will tell you that you can use a wax under the rejex, but they don't recommend it as they claim it will last longer by itself. I'd use the Finesse It II and then apply the rejex. The Finesse It II is a polish only. Combined with the rejex, I find it gives a great long lasting shine. Again, my favorite part is that dirt just wipes right off and doesn't get sucked into the gel coat. I don't think you need to put any wax or teflon on. Polish it and apply 2 coats of rejex and you're done. As you're in SE Florida, you may want to polish every year. I polished it once back in 2005 and now I just re-apply the rejex. I'll pass on coming down to help. Our season's just starting so I can't spare the time. Maybe next winter!

BTW, That pic was taken with the camera on my cell phone. In real life it looks even better.

Their website says that True Value has it, but I've never found it there and the clerks look at me like I've got 3 heads when I ask them if they carry it. I usually just buy it online: http://www.corrosionx.com/rejex.html

To do the whole boat (including cabin and bridge) I usually get 2 bottles and I alway have about a half bottle left over.

Hi Doug, Man QE looks great !!!!!! I haven't been around for a few months....and I'm just reading you thread. I was wondering if some time when you geta chance would you mind going thru the whole process you use to polish and wax QE. My 82FBC looks pretty good, but QE is in a class by herself, especially in the shine department. If possible please list what you used to clean, polish, (did you use a compound machine ) what type of buffing pad, and the steps you used. I winter store BC inside and would like to get her looking good, so I'd be able to spend some time, regardless of the weather(except maybe brutal cold), getting her shine up to speed. Thanks...enjoy the summer Ken AIM: skyking4ever + 3 hrs. EST

Running good. I just went in on Sat afternoon. The inside is still a bit of a train wreck, but everything went well. I plugged in the block heaters on Friday night (I don't have glow plugs). When I hit the starters it took all of about 1 second for the engines to start. Went out for a little ride last night to cool off. Just went out to Misery Isalnd and back. With full fuel, half water, 2 POB, and no curtains she topped out at 31 knots. I'll probably lose a knot or 2 when the curtains go up. Still more cleaning to do! Ken, I have posted on the site before about my process. I'll do a search and attach the link.

Ken, I couldn't find the post. Here's what I did back in 2005: 1. Washed the hull 2. Polished with a machine and white wool pad using 3M's Finesse It II. 3. Applied a machine glaze by Meguires also with a machine and white wool pad. 4. Applied 2 coats of rejex by hand waiting 24 hours between coats. Now all I do is wash the boat and apply the 2 coats of rejex. That's it. If I have some tough stains, I'll hit it with the Finesse It II and then apply the rejex.

Well Doug, while you were riding around, I was dying of heat exhaustion in the yard. Finished the hull today with Rejex. Looks pretty good. Not as good as yours though. I haven't a lot of gelcoat left anymore. Can't use any compound at all, and I put away the big polisher. There is a guy in the yard I use that restores 31 Berts, and he came over and told me how good it looked, but he'd really be happy to paint the boat for a mear $30/sq. ft. said i'd get a couple more years out of it. So the next time I win the lotto, I can get it painted. I hauled on Monday and I'm back in tomorrow..not bad. Gene Dugan Boca Raton, Fl. "Nauti Marie" 1989 33 FBC
