I'd be inclined to do Plymouth . The location is good for a whale watch trip to Race point or fishing at the southern end of stellwagen, plus I'm sure there would be plenty to do or see in Plymouth itself. Anyone have any input? I would be OK with the weekend Rick mentions, aug. 10-12. Any interest?

August works for me, I am taking vacation the week of 8/13-17. Plymouth sounds good, big marina, cool location, lots of family stuff to do. Bill 1988 33 FBC Ipswich, Ma. > ~------- [img]

Plymouth would be fine with me too.. I won't bring my boat up that far, but I have family and friends in Plymouth, so I will have a place to stay and most likely I will drive so I will have a car (actually a pickup truck). Frank B -

Well it looks like maybe the next step will be to check with Brewers and see if the 10th through the 12th will work with them.I'll give them a call this week to see if they can accomidate 6 to 10 boats and to see if they have any function areas. David, will that weekend work for you?

Yeah, sounds great. Has anyone heard from Ron C. (Scout)? I'd like to see him there too.

I'm hoping that once we firm up the date with the marina we can post a sticky about this and maybe some of the people that don't look at the forum every day will see it. At that point we should let other bertram owners know about it to see if they want to attend.

I traded a couple of emails with Ron today. He's doing fine. He said he would be interested in Plymouth as well. Regards, Doug L. 1986 33 Bertram FBC Queen Elizabeth Marblehead, MA [img]

Well the venue works for me but once again I'll have to boogie a bit early. These are my old stomping grounds and I'll be happy help the best I can. A few places for dinner: The Eastbay Grille.
http://www.eastbaygrille.com/ It's within walking distance of the marina on the other side of the Harbor. Probably a 3/4 mile walk. Closer is the new Roobar. Great food but to be honest, a pretty noisy restaurant. Maybe they've done something since they opened, but it's a restored brick building that used to be a cordage factory and is tough to hear anything on a busy night.
http://www.theroobar.com/ Maybe the marina has a restaurant too, guess it's worth asking when we call. Good Striper fishing around that Clarke's Island (where the Pilgrims really first landed in that area) at low tide. But beware, a lot of shallow water (and rocks!) in those parts.

I have brought sailboats into Plymouth Harbor on several occasions.. FOLLOW THE CHANNEL MARKERS ONE AT A TIME! Don't even think of cutting corners! I have no idea how the Pilgrims ever made it to shore, even in a longboat! Frank B -

I'm potentially game for a Plymouth Rendezvous, but will have to play it by ear for a little while till some things shake out at work. Brian '90 Bertram 33' FBC Never Say Never Guilford, CT (Homeport) Kinnelon, NJ (Home)

I think you mean a pilot canoe! One of my best friends had a B33 in Plymouth many years ago.. he was not paying attention and ran aground on the flats in the outer harbor, at about 12-14 knots. One prop and shaft pulled completely out of the boat when the shaft pulled from the coupling! Frank B -

No, Boat... The Pilot Union has been around a LONG TIME! And their fees were HIGH back then too!
