88FBC Gas to Diesel
88FBC Gas to Diesel
I'm about to convert my 88FBC to Yanmar 315s at a yard in Buzzards Bay. I'd appreciate input from those who have done it. What props should I run? Are you using the Standard Yanmar panels on the bridge? Is there anything special about the exhaust? Is anybody interested in 2 yard maintained 545s with 725 hrs? and a Westerbeke 6.0KW with 70 hrs? If so you can see them run in Marblehead, They'll come out the 2nd wk of August. Any and all input appreciated.
Doug, You should check out the thread on Brian's Repower in this section. WHile he went with 370 Yannies, George Marty went with the 315's. Regards, Doug L. 1986 33 Bertram FBC Queen Elizabeth Marblehead, MA

GMarty, I'm not successful emailing you. Could you email me at douglas.halsted@comcast.net please? I'm particularly interested in learning what prop size to run with the Yanmar 315s. Anyone who has an opinion about the prop size for that engine setup please let me know.
Final report. I picked up my boat with 2 new Yanmars and a soundboxed Westerbeke generator from G+S Marine in Buzzards Bay 2 and a half weeks after dropping it off. The workmanship is great, their attention to detail and responsiveness quite impressive. I recommend them to any of you considering this gas to diesel project. Thanks alot to all of you who shared information with me. I have 2 725hr gas engines and transmissions left over if they can help anyone out there. [:)]
