getting home, trucking,or boating

Post by lasportsmn »

I am in the market for a 33 sf and I found one in the carolinas. I need to get it to louisiana. Should I truck it or make the ride all the way around. Has anyone here made the trip in a 33 and will we enjoy the cruising ability of the 33.

Welcome aboard. Of course you will enjoy cruising your new ship! My question is what would be your course for the trip?I think it would sure be a great trip however i would be concerned running a boat that distance that you just purchased and do not know the engines history that well. After owning my boat for awhile i would make the trip and feel confident but there are too many things for you to get comfortable with to take it that distance.Did you survey the boat? Also it would be cheaper to truck it probably at a cost of about $5k What year and what engines?

I plan on taking the icw down to fl then cutting across then the icw across to louisiana. the power is 02 yanmar 350hp 6lya. I am going next week to sea trial and survey her. I have 2 weeks to make the trip. I am a captain in the oilfield but feel i would love to be able to relax on a boat for a while

With two weeks , I'd make the trip. That boat should be set up pretty nice, as long as the survey looks good, I'd go for it.

Lasportsmn... I live in Wilmington, NC and have a B33 FBC in Charleston, SC, that I am redoing now.. if you need any local assistance in the Carolinas feel free to contact me. Is the boat you are looking at the SF in Charleston offered by Cape Fear Yacht Sales by any chance? Frank B - IRGuy@aol.com "Phoenix" 1983 FBC!

I have the trip from NE Florida to West Central Florida, a really nice trip on the ICW, can be slow at times and some bridge delays. Perhaps, you could spend two days running around locally to shake it down before your trip. Be sure to print a camera to record the voyage. 1979 Bertram 33' FBC ALEXANDRA Port Richey, Florida HAVE YOU SIGNED UP FOR BERTRAM PRIDE '06 yet? DO IT NOW... SPACE IS LIMITED!
