Hi everyone; Even though I seldom write, I do check this great site at least 5 times per week. Panama is our native country and visit her very often. She is a traditionally very stable country with strong democratic institutions and government. The currency is the US dollar but with cost of living about 1/3 less than America. Foreigners have discovered its qualities and are purchasing properties like its the end of the world, specially those waterfront and of cool climates. Among the greatest incentives, no property taxes on new homes for 20 years. Since it has coasts in both Pacific and Atlantic oceans boating and fishing are a way of life. Hurricanes NEVER travel that much south and serious quakes are not a concern. Her are a few sites you can check out. http://www.desarrollobahia.com/ http://www.panamaopportunities.com/ http://www.canalmuseum.com/canalphotos/ ... -0113.html Jose Jaen "Blue Chip" 1993 33FBC Miami FL

I just saw a show on Panama, they have Dunkin Donuts! The Mad Fisherman was just there filming a segment. It looks like the U.S. over there. Sounds very interesting and looks beautiful. I see a vacation in the future, rent a villa perhaps. Bill 33 FBC Ipswich, Ma.

'ole 'ole...Get my kids off to college and leave the country! we did Marguretta off Venezala once. Water was to cold. We got some tanks filled at a firestation and out to the reef in a dugout. Everything was real cheapo. But Hugo isn't real pro-American nowdays. Panama has been pretty stable in recent years, might be worth a try. We have some people we know in Belieze. They come up for a restock onec a year. Gene Dugan

Bill, How's the work coming? Think I'll finish my engine work this week....could be cover off next week. The thought of another wax job is exhausting, but it's what comes after the wax job that gets you motivated ! Rick Ticket 85 SF Falmouth, MA

Rick! I swear I keep thinking about swinging by your boat on the weekend to see how your doing! Of course I got a million things going on keeping me busy ALL day long. I just installed the FX-1 controller this weekend, put in a new faucet in the galley, the cockpit is all ready to go back in the boat. I got it at the house, me and Frank put new coring in and glassed it over. It went great and is better than new. I am going to be doing the rudder bearings as soon as they come in the mail from Danny. Put a flat screen, and dvd radio in Dougs boat. And I've been doing a bunch of other things on my boat list. Just saw the weather report and it definitely looks tempting to put the boat in soon. Cover will come off when the bearings are done, so I can put the cockpit back in right away. Boats are getting splashed at Libery Marina already, if the marina at PCYC was open I would like to go in Mid April, but not sure if they'll be ready by then. Glad to hear the engine work is almost done, waxing the boat...should be easier then last year for me. Last year it was a mess, it took a lot of compounding which should'nt have to be done this year. It's been a good winter, got a lot of things done on the boat, it's been fun. Are you donwn on the boat at all during the week? Let me know, I'm always in the area. Bill 33 FBC Ipswich, Ma. Wow Bill, Talk about an aggressive captain, I'm impressed...you're flying ! Should be at the boat from about 9:00 - 1:00 tomorrow (Tuesday, 3/28). Probably some other days this week too, but not sure...maybe Thurs. Do you need help getting that cockpit deck back in there ? Rick Ticket 85 SF Falmouth, MA

HAA ! No job is done until the beer is gone ! Had a good day...re-installed my starboard raw water pump, got another manifold in and switched over a noisy alternator. One more mainfold to install, some fresh plugs & wires and I'm ready to start 'em.....then we'll see how much more work I have to do. Boating is fun, boating is fun, boating is fun. Rick, When you repowered, how come you didn't go with a fresh water cooling system? Brian '90 Bertram 33' FBC Never Say Never Guilford, CT (Homeport) Kinnelon, NJ (Home)

Brian, It is FWC. It's just not all Fresh Water.....and you know where ever there's salt there's going to be trouble ! The Crusaders are a little better than Merc's in that run both fresh & salt through their Manifold's. But Crusader was up for sale when I re-powered so I wasn't sure that they'd be supported down the road. Merc's are pretty solid every where else but the exhaust manifolds are their weakest link.
