Good/bad news

Post by Mikedcabo »

The good news-our boat partnership (6 lifelong friends) found another great boat to restore (a 42 Hat damaged in Katrina) The bad news-we will have to sell the Bert to swing it. [:(] I really love our Bert-and being able to take advantage of y'alls experience has been a real highlight for me-but I can't swing personal ownership. Anyway, we're putting it on the market if you know someone who might be interested. It's a 79 Sportsfisher, Cat 3208T c about 2600 hours. David-I hope it's ok to post this-if not feel free to take it down

Mike, Sorry to hear about the down-grade.[;)] Just kidding. Congrats! Sounds like you guys have found something that better suits your needs. Good luck selling the Bert. I'll keep my ear to the ground. Regards, Doug L. 1986 33 Bertram FBC Queen Elizabeth Marblehead, MA

We're still pricing it but probably 89K. Does that sound in the right range?

Mike, Are you listing it through a broker? How quickly do you want the boat to sell? Since I'm assuming the Cats are original, I think $89K is a bit high. I could be wrong, tell us more about the boat: Do you have a tower? New Electronics? What and how new? New enclosure? Major recent engine service? etc...? We're not listing with a broker yet. A lot of folks in our area lost boats in Katrina. We just want a fair price (and personally I want someone whose going to take good care of my favorite boat) We would like to sell it in the next 2 months so we can get ready for hurricane season again and focus on restoring the Hatt. No tower New enclosures contracted but the guy is backed up (as is every other contractor in the area) New Raymarine C80 color GPS c antenna New belts, hoses etc last May According to a survey 9/01 the Cats were 86's and had ~750 hours on them then. They have about 2700 hours now. The boat appraised for $110,000 then.

I do not want to open a can of worms, but jezzz. I got mine for 82,000. Cat 320hp with 2200hrs. I have an 81. If they are going for that much now, Man I got a bargain or I have to reappraise? Just looking for replacement cost with insurance. Mike

Mine is a little newer but I paid 105 with 3000 hours on my CATS and a rustball genny, and it appraised at 125 at time of sale. It is worth more now with all the time and money I've spent upgrading it, and I'm sure your boat is too. Sean Burlingham "Island Time" 1987 Bertram 33 SF Melbourne, FL SBurlingham@cfl.rr.com

Mike Is the Hatteras a local boat? If so, what's the name? Where was it moored during Katrina? Fish Stix

Hey David-hope things are coming along for you. The Hatt was in Dog River Marina in Mobile Bay. Similar to the Bertram-it was in a covered slip. They got about 8 feet of tidal surge and it crunched the top. It's "Bar Tender" Do you know the boat?

No, had not heard of it. Good...glad to hear you're going up. The Miss Lisa (33B SF lost in Katrina) just moved to a Hat. A reel nice 45. I jumped aboard for a test run couple weeks back - you'll be pleased with your move. Things are getting a little better around here. No insurance settlements on the house and still driving in from Mississippi. Figure this, though...the wife finds a boat she likes...and starts pushing me to pursue it..... I'll never know what they're thinking. Anyway, I'm back in the hunt - stay tuned. By the way, keeping the name???

On the other hand it does seem to fit our group-though in a different context[:D] It does have a nice little placard in the salon announcing drinking hours are from 0700 to 0659!
