33 Megabites got bit by the burglary bug

Post by Admin »

The boat got burglarized sometime this week. Besides the usual rummaging that burglars do, they stole 2 Penn International 645 reels and my entire tackle box (ouch!). As these are private docks, you would think the odds of it happening would be low, but not low enough I guess. I don't have "personal effects" coverage, so maybe this is a lesson to be learned about the value of it.

David, Sorry to hear that. The worst part is that no one will ever get caught for it. The bastards probably came in by water.

Thanks for the info Bill, I'll look into that. As for who did it, I think I know actually, but no way to prove it. A group of guys that are painting a boat just down from mine showed up this week, and what do you know, a few of the boats were burglarized. Coincidence? Fat chance. Oh yeah, did I mention that these "professional" looking fellows got up and left their lunch behind when the Harbor Patrol came cruising by? Low lifes.

OK, this is a crazy turn of events. The police caught the guy, and I got my stuff back already! Actually, they already had him in custody for a break-in they caught him red-handed on Thursday morning (like 3am), and they got him to admit what else he had done because they looked at the bottom of his boots and they matched perfectly the boot prints he left behind. Thank God for condensation! Plus I had just had the boat cleaned on Monday. He turns out to be the motorhead grandson of one of my neighbors. He had stashed the stuff by a dumpster on the property (I live in a townhome complex). Now that is amazing! [8D]

David, I am glad that you have alert police officers, and I hope you seek damages for washing and waxing your boat too. Holy cow David, That's unheard of to catch a guy like that. You must have some pretty sharp cops around where you live. And you were thinking bad thoughts about the painters....Hopefully that will be the last time you have a problem like that. It's unfortunate that after one of those break-ins that we all live in fear of another . That's the worst part of it.

Yeah, I am ashamed to admit it, but I even suspected the guy who cleans my boat. The painter guys are still losers though. They are spraying right next to other boats. We called the EPA on them.

Al, Unfortunately David has just used up his available luck. Some people might wish for a cancer cure, some , world peace, David wished for his stuff back and got it. Hmmm, now don't you feel selfish David?[;)]

Actually, a friend of mine said he wished I'd get it back, because without it, he knew I wouldn't be taking him fishing. I was resided to think it was gone for good.
