Interior

Post by sbeer »

Has anyone tackled the replacement of all that formica in the cabin with natural wood? Or anything else? Would love to change it to something that can stand up to the riggers of fishing, but would like to make it a little more eye catching. Any pics would be great. Mike

I considered it. Ended up pulling the side panels & bringing them home. One small panel had 39 screw holes in it. Filled everything in & then sanded the heck out of the formica. It was amazing how prominent that fake woodgrain was. If you search back through the early posts you'll find some expressing my frustration with dust nibs in the finish. Don't have a spray booth & I was doing the painting in what is SUPPOSED to be my living room. I used Toplac paint & ultimately I think it came out pretty good. Al 1978 33 FBC NITES OFF

Mike, I've put these up before. Also, these are on an old FBC, not a SF. Al 1978 33 FBC NITES OFF

Is that painted over formica? That looks great. I redid my counter tops just to change the way the interior looks. It help, but I'M LOOKING FOR MORE. Al, interior looks great. Maybe if Dave can get the time he can set something up where we all can see what our interiors look like and progress from there. The paint idea looks great but on the water maint? How about that? they make a primer that is made to go over formica - then paint - that is my plan - should hold up well if done right - and easy clean up if you use a high quality paint.

Randy, I thought my pics were oversized. I think you now hold the record! I'm sorry I'm not hooked up to my 37" tv instead of just a 19" monitor. By the time I've finished scrolling, I've forgotten what I started looking at. I think I'm showing my age again. Other than that, WELCOME to the forum. Al 1978 33 FBC NITES OFF

Hey Randy, welcome to the forum, Nice interior. Do you have one of those panoramic cameras or what? How the heck did you get those on here?
