George, That place up in Ft. Pierce on US1 can't think of the name..Discount Marine Warehouse or something like that. They had racks of outriggers. I picked up a brand new pair of Pompanett bridge chairs with cushons for $600 , new ladder ,gauges...all sorts of crap. Made a day of it. They have a web site. I just replaced my old lee srs. with newer lees from sailorman www.sailorman.com in ft. lauderdale last year for $600. They are single spreaders with gold spreaders/tips. They were a little warped but I managed to straighten them back out. I think with the holders they are 22 ft. overall and the tower release sure is nice underway. Cory, do they hit the bow rail when you release them? Mine are set up the same but are limited by the bow rail - they don't actually hit because the arm was tweaked but they just don't get flat enough (in my view) to be fully effective.

George, It sounds as if they are either mounted to far forward or too low. The general guidelines for outrigger sizing calculation is to multiply the waterline length by .643, which should be the combined the length of outrigger & layout mount of the vessel. Mounted the base at half the waterline length from the transom. When up, draw an imaginary line from the tip of the outriggers straight down, it would not be more than 1'-2' aft of the transom. Corey, the outriggers look great and it appears that you got a good price. I have been to sailor man on numerous occasions but have not been fortunate enough to find a set. I will be looking for a set this weekend at the Lighthouse Point Nautical Flea Market. After purchasing a bow pulpit and mounting and wiring a windless, I am ready to tackle the outriggers. I will have to do a lot of research or find someone local that can help with the installation. If you know of someone please give me the name. Thanks for the compliments guys. I was going to throw my old ones out, they were really shot. But my wife insisted we hang on to them in case someone wanted to buy them and surprisingly not a day later I got an offer for $300. I think there's an old adage there somewhere... I mounted them myself with the help of my fiberglass guy, he was good to have around when drilling holes in the boat. There's a longer story involving him drilling extra holes and abscounding without finishing the work, etc. but I am sure that's a common S. Florida tale. They are mounted as high as I could get them just below the window. The angle was determined by the windshield. I find they go flat enough and I am very satisfied with the installation. Three guys is better than two and four is better, the fourth checking the angles and placement (ideal to use your wife/girlfriend for the fourth since they know everything). Ideally two will hold it in place while the third guy marks where the brackets should go. After you have it marked they are light enough that two can take it from there. Hope that's helpful!

Having looked at yours, mine were mounted too low - they are set where the stripe runs under the window and yours are above - I bet that 2 inches makes a legitimate difference. Too late now. Other than that, they were moutned carefully because the lines are perfect and the tips are directly over the transom. What is your thought on grounding OR's?

My boat is set up a bit differently. Interesting, that I have not see any other 33 with the riggers mounted this way. Not sure I would have done this but... I have the Lees with 36 in. tubes and 22 ft. riggers mounted on the side of the house just above and fwd of the Bert33 emblem. They can lay almost flat, not that I lay them down that far. There is a pic of the boat somewhere on the site under one of my posts from 2004. Whoever put them on this way did the job right. Everything is Thru bolted and grounded to bottom of the boat. It eliminates walking around a outrigger if you need to get up to the bow of the boat is one advantage. It came this way from Bertram. I have the original photo of the boat when it came out the door in 1989. Gene Dugan

Seems this thread went from aft sun shade to outriggers. Does anyone know what outriggers make model (or specs) came on the 1989 FBC. Mine where removed and I need to now add them. It would be nice to use the same mounting holes and not have to drill new. I was considering the wishbone type mounted near the Bertram emblem, but now you have me thinking.
