fuel tank

Post by joseraposo_46 »

Hi all. I'm finally replacing the gas tank. It's being made out of aluminum. Luther's welding suggested that it NOT be painted. I was curious what you guys thought. Thank You

Jose, Rick & I used auto body sealer on the bottom section also on where the side wing extensions contacted the support pads that we glassed in. We also puts strips of hard vinyl under the contact points so any water could drain away. We bought 1/8" stainless straps that we bent tabs on the ends & then lagged them in to the bulkheads. We padded the contact points with with the vinyl also. Remember, with an aluminum tank, don't allow any contact points with wood as you will end up electrolysis.
Good Luck
