Advice

Post by joseraposo_46 »

Hello all. I have a 1980 33sf with mercruiser 454’s model 330. The heads have to be rebuilt. I’m having a difficult time finding parts like push rods etc. I was hoping someone had a source for internal engine parts and a good machine shop. Also I’m considering repowering if I could find some running take outs. If repowering becomes my path and I find diesels what make and model diesels do you suggest and would I still have to replace my fiberglass fuel tank if I convert to diesel. Thank you all for your time

Jose, you can try http://www.bouchersracing.com/. I have used them several times having heads re-conditioned. they are an excellent machine shop that knows the 454's inside & out. They only take cash or a check. No charge cards. They can probably give you some leads. Another excellent source is summit racing online.

I think the diesel route has gone by as a wild ass guess with you doing almost all the work would probably be more than $75,000. The diesels totally transform the boat in a good way.

Hi Jose,

I got your message about changing your fuel tank, but it came to my home email somehow....bottom line, I'm not sure how to reply to it.

Please send me an email address I can use to send pic's to. Lobsta1 was a huge help to me as we both changed our tanks over the same winter, I have a lot of detail that might be of help to you.

Good luck with it !
