Raw Water Bracket

Post by Rick »

The bracket for my Raw Water is bent and is bending more....just lost it's rigidity. It's a part that is no longer available and trust me, it just doesn't exist out there (Merc Part # 861087T). There's many people looking for the same part, so their design must be flawed....surprised ? I've had it welded and it's semi OK, but I think it's time to think about a machine shop to make another one. My port side is still in good shape and could be used to duplicate. Anyone know a good shop around the Northeast for doing that ? Captain Rick Ticket 85 SF Merc 454 MPI's Falmouth, MA

Rick, before you go the machine shop route which is going to cost big bucks, try rooting around some local marina's. Many of the older places have old complete motors sitting around. I'll bet you find what you are looking for. I'm actually pretty surprised that this part hasn't been superseded. Those engines aren't that old!

Thanks Joe, was thinking the same and started giving up when I was talking to salvage yards in Florida. But I agree, there’s one around here somewhere, just got to keep digging ! Captain Rick Ticket 85 SF Merc 454 MPI's Falmouth, MA

Rick, The place is Ma. Marine Parts. # is 617 719 8232. They're casual about answering the fone & even more casual about returning calls. I think they go home about 2. Al

Rick, have you tried Bill's Outboard in Hingham? That place is chock full of parts. They always have what I need. 781-749-9793. Or maybe Scalisi in Weymouth. They never get rid of anything.

Thanks guys. I have luckily straightened the bracket and got things running again. But it's clear that having a spare ready to go would be a good thing so I'll try them out. Captain Rick Ticket 85 SF Merc 454 MPI's Falmouth, MA
