Coolant flush on cat 3208

Post by Pat525 »

Planning on doing a coolant flush soon, can anyone tell me where to drain antifreeze from ? It's a cat 3208t 320hp ... I looked briefly the other day..the only drain plugs I found were on the oil cooler.. Thanks

If I understand what you are saying the "drain plugs" in the oil coolers at the back of the engine are actually zincs. No coolant flows through the oil coolers only sea water. These are actually transmission coolers. If you decide to pull them out be gentle because the zinc part can break off inside the cooler and partially block the cooler. I'll check my engines and service manuals today and get back with you. A great source for info about your engines would be the BoatDiesel website.
