http://www.por15.com/SUPER-STARTER-KIT/ ... info/SSKB/ Looks interesting for use on some of the items on the boats that are likely to rust.

Bill, Over 20 years I've never heard a negative on the POR products. I keep saying I am going to get some, but have never pulled the trigger. Al

Just bought the kit a couple seconds ago! They had a good write up in one of the boat magz so I figured I'd give it a try. Frankly P might have something to say about it???????

I've used it before in areas that I couldn't get all the rust completely off. It worked good for me. Buzz

What are you planning on using it on?

I have used a few of their products, the marine clean, metal ready and their fuel tank slosh. So far I have not seen them fail.

Frank, not to change the subject but with you being the engine guy on this forum have you ever seen or heard of a diesel fuel conditioner from this company www.specialtyfuelsystems.com? They had a booth at the Miami Boat Show. They claim a huge reduction in smoke & soot plus a 4 to 12 % fuel savings. I'm always suspicious of these type of claims and figure if it sounds too good to be true then it most likley is.

Cliff, I have never used an additive in diesels. From what I understand, Cummins does not recommend any. That said, I wouldn't mind trying one to see what it does but ,like you I'm a bit skeptical and think that those claims are pretty exaggerated..

Thanks Frank, Some day if I ever have extra time and money perhaps I'll give one a try. But for now I have to finish up the new Vacuflush head system.
