Need some advice on 35
I live on the gulf coast and this is my first sport fisherman.I have a 35 Bertram flybridge with twin 555 cummins. The boat seems to run well and does 14 MPH cruise wich i am happy with . we went out yesterday and the seas were around 3.5 to 4 foot.almost a 7 foot wave heigth and i noticed when the boat got a little sideways in the waves i felt like the boat was going to roll over. It was very nerve wracking and i just turned around ater a couple miles and went back in.Is it possible to roll this boat in 4 footers or was i being paranoid?I have been in other stuff similar in my older 25 foot boat and it did not seem as bad. maybe because i am up so much higher in the bertram it made feel uneasy. Is this justb a fear i need to get over.I know here for cobia season the best days are 3-4's and i would hate not to be able to fish this boat on those days. do any of ou guys with similar boat get that feeling in your gut when boats start to rock.how did you get over it?boat is a 79 hull
I have contained in my 35B owner's manual a performance page for the 5555. The 555 is rated at 215HP at 3000 rpms. Cruise at max cruise RPM of 2700 is 21.5 MPH at 21.4GPH light configuration. Max cruise at heavy configuration is 20.7 MPH The chart indicates that the boat needs to cruise at 2700RPMs. The range curve looks like a bell with maxinum range at the apex corresponding with 2700 RPMs WOT 26.3 MPH Light WOT 22.9 MPH Heavy Get the engines fixed and then worry about how it rides.

I had a similar experience when my boat had gas motors in a 1/4 following sea and was fighting the wheel to keep the boat at a certain attitue. It was on a long run and after a while I got tired of correcting and just let the boat go a little sideways, once it hit the back of the next wave the boat straighened right on out. Also, as Charlie had said more speed helps to keep on top and limit the bow steer. br,
