Engine Removal

Post by otf »

I didn't want to hijack another thread. You can seriously lift the 454's out through the rear door? I can understand the numbers might work as they will fit, but how in th eworld do you lift them at that angle? It hadn't even occured to me it would be worth doing this way. Any thoughts?

It can be done. We used a big A frame. You assemble it inside the salon and it can travel side to side. With the manifolds off the engines will fit through the door. I didn't do it that way. Number 1..I hated that Bertram door, so I had a new custom door made. I ripped out the stb. bulkhead and had a new one made to accomodate the new door install. I'm pretty sure Tim or most others did not remove the door or the bulkheads when they repowered. Gene Dugan Boca Raton, Fl. "Nauti Marie" 1989 33 FBC 2007 8.1 Crusaders
