Wet bunks

Post by GMarty »

I just started getting water in my bunks - the window is clearly leaking and was not sure if this is common and simple fix?

Mine did that. I tried installing new gaskets first, but it had no effect. It was the porthole frame itself that was leaking. I pulled the whole frame out. Bertram did not leave a lot of room between the cabin side and the window for much caulking. I enlarged the opening with a rasp, cleaned it up, re-bedded it, and re-installed. That was 3 or 4 years ago and it has not leaked a drop since.

Just did mine a month ago. It leaks between the window frame and the boat. Pull the screws out on the inside and then use a putty knife or similar to pull the frame inwards and push it in form the outside. It is a little tough to break the old sealant seal, but then it pulls right out (in). There is a little trim cover on the outside that seems to be just held on by sealant. Mine leaked badly (the head window too) and one looked like it had been fixed before.
