What head hose to use?

Post by little doc »

I finally figured out how to get to all the hose ends. Now I have the dilemma of choosing a hose. I went to west marine and they had the white hose that is currently in the boat for about 3.50 a foot. The catalog has several black hoses "guaranteed to keep odor out for a lifetime" for up to about 12 bucks a foot. Is the expensive stuff worth it, or will I be changing it in 5 years anyway. I am not adverse to spending the money but only if it is worthwhile. I plan on keeping the boat until hell freezes over. The salesman at WM did not know the difference between the options and was recommending the cheap stuff. thanks Scott.

The balck stuff is better but not as flexible . You will smell odor through the white ones in about 5 years. I'm just realizing that now on my boat.

I converted mine to white PVC tubing for the majority and then used PVC to hose adaptors for the connections at either end. I then used the top of the line white hose at the connections. I forget where I read about it, but no permeating smell. Only a couple of short lengths to replace if ever a problem.
