i just got off the phone with onan and i had ordered those parts, but my mech. has allready started taking the carb apart. I hope this will work i will keep u posted thanx again fot the help..Pete

any idea what a generator burns - I know it depends on load, size - but how about a ballpark guess?

i was told by onan and also read in my manual that mine should burn about 1 gal per hour but i think it does bettet then that..

I always figured on around 1/hr - but I didnt know if I heard that somewhere or made it up.

I think the exact rate on mine was 0.46 gallons at 80% load. With an 8 KW, I can have everything running full blast and still only use 80% of its capacity. I don't normally run the HW heater at all, just the A/C, and most of the other high-demand things are usually not running either (microwave, battery charger) so I'm probably burning much less than .46 on average. I installed a big genny in anticipation of a big icemaker that will shoot ice into a cooler and actually fill it in a few hours, along with a freshwater maker that would feed it, so I'm not carrying around 70 gallons of water all the time. I have never used the hot water on my boat - but the A/C runs a lot. Basically its the A/C during the day, and a few lights and occasional microwave at night. My rat trap of a generator has had work - wobbles around, makes a lot of noise, looks like crap, but it just keeps going so I dont mess with it to much. I had it tuned up (valve adjustment, belts, hoses, fuel pump) a few years ago - then just regular maint and it looks like it wants to die, sounds like it wants to die - but starts right up amd runs all day.

well guys my mech. installed the rebuild carb today and still the same problem my neighbour told me it looks like my GOVENOR that adjust the rps for more or less load is what is not working so i guess that i must give in and get a generator tech out to my boat and GIVE IT TO ME.. thanx forthe help i will let you guys know what was wrong in case it will help someone out in the future...Pete. ps if you have a mom i wish them a happy moms day
