Phoenix Restoration

Post by buzzk »

Frank, I haven't seen any posts about your boat's restoration in a while. Please give us an update or has it been to cold to work on your boat. I bought a new auto pilot but it's been to cold for me to mess with it. Buzz buzzk 1988 Bertram 33 FBC Buzz Off Morehead City, NC

Hi Buzz... Phoenix still is tied up behind my neighbor's house down the street since the contractor replacing the bulkhead has not restored my slip yet. We just committed to dredging our canal from the ICW and our basin where my slip is, which will take 3-4 weeks, and during that time we can't move boats, so I guess I am stuck where I am, unless I can possibly move her when my slip is finished, and as long as the dredging contractor is not working and he has not left oil booms or lines out all over the place. I am still working like a beaver to finish the house, and am seeing daylight at the end of that tunnel. I do get on Phoenix occasionally to check things out and run the engines, but until I get her in my slip I can't do much else. Also, my 24' Grady OB is on a trailer in a freind's work and storage yard, and I have a potential buyer from MA who wants to look at it so I need to do some work on it as well. In my spare time I play grandfather to my daughter's two kids. Retirement is great! I can't figure out how I used to find 50-60 hours a week for work in the old days! How are things with you in Morehead City? With the dredging work being done here I might be able to find you a slip if you manage to come down to Wilmington, or if you wanted, the harbormaster in the city is supposed to have some spaces on the riverfront docks for transient use. Frank, Funny how dock work and dredging are never ending work. The contractors never seem to start on time or finish on time. I thought dredging had to stop around the end of March because of the turtles. Thanks for the offer to find me a slip, until the weather warms up I'm not going anywhere. Some people come to NC and think it's warm here but I'm from here and I'm freezing. My son wants to come with us when we come down on the boat. He graduated from UNCW. He and his wife have a 6 week old baby. Anyway once it warms up we'll all load up including our new granddaughter and come down for a weekend. Maybe we can get together and have dinner together. Buzz... The dredging contractor said he could get the work done before the time limit expired so we decided to have that done while he was in the area. As far as being cold.. I am from MA and believe me, this is warm! Lets keep in touch on your coming down here.. we can get together somewhere.. it would be nice to meet some more of your family. Warmer weather is on it's way! Frank B - IRGuy@aol.com "Phoenix" 1983 FBC Wilmington, NC
