Cabin Door/33' SF

Post by bosdockpilot »

Happy Holidays All...I was wondering if anyone has had to replace the main cabin door on a 33 SF. Combination of door delaminating and a owner break-in (lockset failure)forces door replacement. I would like to keep it original equipment if possible. It would be greatly appreciated if anyone has any info. In advance Thanks, Steve

Steve, Long time no hear. How're things? I know Frank Price replaced his door a couple of years ago. Hopefully he'll chime in. I believe there are pics in the Slide Show section. Steve, I did replace mine because it started to delaminate, also I didn't like all those flat panel doors , so I had the interior doors made from oak and the entry door from mahogany. I didn't like the fact that all the doors were just flat panels, kinda reminded me of a cheap house. If you want to keep the OEM look, you could re-glue it together with west system epoxy and clamp it up until it cured , or you could have a new one made up from marine ply and have the outside skinned in formica if you could find a color to match. The inside could easily be re-veneared (sp?) in oak to match the inside of your boat. Cabinet makers have no problem making doors.
