Mike, Right now there are a lot of dogfish but most people are fishing for tuna or stripers. I'm not sure of cod fishing right now.The bluefish are up here around the cape ann area right now, lots of fun but not the best meat. What area are you going to?

The guy we chartered go's out about 30 or so miles to these little away spots. We killed them last year. Almost 2 150 gott coolers of fillets. Best bottom fishing I have ever had. Drop down 300ft, the minute it hits you have one on. Biggest last year was a 44 lb. cod. I'll be sure to take some pics. I heard that the dogs were really heavy and wanted to prepare myself for catching those pieces of !@#$. Nothing worst then reeling 300ft and find one of those things on. Can get real boreing and exhausting. Mike

Sorry to hear that Mike. It's not going to be a great weather weekend but I'm surprised that a charter boat would cancel. It looks like 10 to 15 with gusts up to 25 but the seas only 2to 4 ft. I would guess that the big charter boats in my marina will be going out. I guess the temp. will be a bit chilly too.

I was surprised also. I had checked the bouy reports and it looked like it was going to be pretty good. Live another day I guess. Had another op. to go on a guys 37 topaz to the toms canyon. On fri to sat. Get everything on board, fueling up at the dock, reports coming back all day that they are bailing tuna, one guy made the statement that if he had left the transom door open, they would have swam into the boat, thats how thick they were. Everyone was loading up. Get the call on the sat phone that this guy that the cap knows , 42ft hatteras got 4 miles to the tip and was turning around. 5 to 8's and building. I think I am going for the record of getting blown out in the most states in a weekend, lol. Looks like fluke fishing in the river this weekend, damn. Mike
