The seas were calm so Tom Ward and I could not crash waves. It's a Bertram so I have no worries about "Bertram Weather". The boat weights in at 28,224 with half fuel 4 people and a 1000 pounds of butterfish. Let's put this into perspective. 36 Tiara 15,850 dry which equates to 19,070 wet. Cabo 19,500 pounds. Man I hope that is a dry number. Henriques 21,000 dry or about 24,000 pounds wet. Well these numbers tell a story. Bertram has built yet another battle cruiser. Size, the 36 Bertram is a 39'4" boat including the pulpit. That makes the little Cabo even smaller at 37'6". I guess that is why it is a light weight. Tiara is 36'5" and the Hen is 38'3". Once again Bertram is the biggest 36 foot, plus it carries a 13'6" beam, 3 inches larger than Tiara and 6 inches larger than Cabo or Hen. The test boat had a full tower full fuel and about 8 people. We clocked off 38kts into the wind with the 575HP Volvos turning 2550 rpms. I am sure the boat can get to 40kts with the engines getting to max rpms. The inside is huge, well laid out and beatiful. The Ferretti's know how to pretty up a boat. I would say Cabo and Tiara are probably forecasting much lower sales number for their 36 Express boats. I don't know how the 36B will affect Hen. The price for the 36 bertram with every option including things like the full tower, custom gelcoat colors, 10KW genny,electronics ( Furuno, Simrad, and Northstar stuff) ice maker riggers and everything else is $573,331.00. It's bigger, it's bader and it's prettier than anything in it's class. Is it a straight fishing machine like most Bertrams? NO it is a fishing cruiser. The cockpit is big; but the helm seating and interior size come at the expense of cockpit space. My 35B holds a Murrary Large Tuna Chair with lots of room to walk around and plenty of room between the foot rest and transom for stand-up if that's what you like. The 36Bertram Express seemed to have a larger salon!. The 36 Bertram Express is a winner and the other guys are going to have to scramble to keep up. Pics soon on www.bertramrendezvous.com. Charlie
