Exhaust Vent Covers - Someone Took Mine Off!
You're not going to believe this one. Got to my boat Sunday and noticed the starboard exhaust vent cover was missing. Thought I'd just take the port off and go to West marine and try to match it up with something. Port was gone, too. Both unscrewed, all 8 screws on each. Fut the wuck? Called Danny and he doesn't have the mold for my 1983 with CATS. Anyone have any ideas? Peter L. Banis KNOT AGAIN Boston

Peter, That really sucks that someone would be messing with your boat. What exhaust covers are you talking about? The "mail slot" looking vents that are on gas powered boats, on the sides near the stern? If so, it wouldn't be all that tough to make a mould for new ones. Frank Price

Danny at High Tide Marine was able to make up a new venturi vent for my '90 FBC gas earlier this summer, the first one he sent me was about a 1/4" too shallow and the opening was a little narrow, so I sent him my other one and he was able to match. Last year I tried one from GlassTech, but his were a little too large. Don't know what size yours requires, but you could check with Nelson at GlassTech. Peter, What are the dimensions of your vents? Can you determine from the width, height and depth of the vent area remaining? I'm converting to diesels this winter and will likely be removing my new sidevent covers, but mine is a 1990, so not sure if we have same dimensions. Take some measurements and let me know, I'll measure mine and see if we get lucky and can work a deal. Brian '90 Bertram 33' FBC Never Say Never Westbrook, CT (Homeport) Kinnelon, NJ (Home)

Peter, Let me know and I'll measure mine next time I'm visiting the boat after Thanksgiving. Brian '90 Bertram 33' FBC Never Say Never Westbrook, CT (Homeport) Kinnelon, NJ (Home)
