Fuel Filter

Post by GMarty »

OK, here is a stupid question. Gonna do some fising this week and will be pushing it a bit in terms of fuel so I want to be prepared should I clog a filter. Probably will not be an issue but i like to worry Have to say I have never changed one myself. Looks obvious but would like to hear someone explain it that has done it before. Thanks in advance!

It's pretty simple. Unscrew the old filter, be carefull not to spill gas in the bilge if you can help it. Fill the new filter with fresh gas as full as you can safely do , spread a thin film of grease on the gasket if you can,not too much, just enough to coat the gasket with no globs into the filter. Tighten the new filter about as tight as you can with your bare hands. Don't go crazy tight but I think you get the picture. That's about all There is to it, except maybe turn the fuel valve off first to prevent the fuel from siphoning back into the tank or any more fuel leaking than you have to . Keep a rag handy to wipe up any leaked fuel. Be especially careful of leaks after startup and any fuel you might have leaked into the bilge. Frank Price

That is what I thought. Like an oil filter. Thanks.
