Leaky Aft Hatch
Leaky Aft Hatch
Hey, has anyone solved the leaky aft hatch woes? I've seen that glass tech can make a cockpit deck with locking, gasketed hatches, but 4500K seems like a lot to protect the genny.

I`ve been thinking about that problem since I got the boat. There are a lot of quarter turn latches out there for just that type of thing. Since I live in the frigid north east, I though that would be one of the projects to tackle over the winter. Along with protecting the genset a little better I also am not fond of fish blood in the bilge, or the thought of a large wave over the stern , possibly floating a hatch cover off the deck. A good friend of mine is a very good glass guy. We may decide to make a mold to make new covers , or maybe just a latching system with a gasket will work. I am concerned about cutting a bunch of holes in the deck to make it latch but surely any fix will involve drilling a few holes. Keep us posted if you find anything that works. Frank Price

Well, a good question. I didn't do anything ..yet.Except as part of just routine stuff,I put new hoses on the hatch drains and I'm pretty diligent about keeping them clear. I also squirted my new genset down with corrosion-X and stuff. It appears that there is actually very little(if any) water getting on the genset from the hatches.I'm mostly concerned now about fish blood and scales in the drain holes and in the bilge , so I'm still thinking of a way to latch them with a gasket without making them look like a hack-job. I guess I'd say it's moved down the list but I'm still thinking about it. Frank Price
