Batteries

Post by Bertram Brad »

I searched for batteries but didn't any good info. What types of batteries do most of you use? I've had my boat for 7 years now and it's time to replace the batteries for the first time. I've got separate starting batteries from the house bank. Starting are AGM. House are gel. I have three house paralleled together. I've got sticker shock. I don't want to spend 2k fir three new gel batteries. Just looking to see what you guys are using. If I were to go wet cell I'd want no maintenance batteries. Thanks

I replaced each of my 8d's with 2 OPTIMA Batteries. They have lasted a lot longer than my 8d's did and are maintenance free. Not to mention the fact that I'm not able to lift the 8d's around anymore. My mechanic told me this is what all of his customers have gone to.

I usually get 7 years or more from regular old lead acid 8d's. Not sure how everyone else uses batteries but mine never get run down , always have just about a full charge so they live an easy life.

I went with the (3) DEKA 8A/8D AGM batteries. They had very nice specs and I got a fairly decent price per battery $585. Got them all wired up last weekend and eberything seems to running well. I will take it out for the real test this weekend.

You'll love that you never have to service them. Make sure you've got a nice 3 or 4 stage charger and your battery problems will be a distant memory Rick Ticket 85 SF Merc 454 MPI's Falmouth, MA
