How much do you use your boat
How much do you use your boat
I've been using my boat less every year. I had my boat for sale because I used it so little. I changed my mind thinking I would use it this summer and it didn't happen. The grandkids like the skiff better. How much do you guys use your boats? I'm on the fence about selling my boat. What's the market like? Thanks

Using mine more & more Buzz. My kids are in mid-20's and off doing their thing. We still go out together but not as much...think it has something to do with women and beer ! I've had the boat since '97 and know what to do and when to do it so it just gets easier every year. Rick Ticket 85 SF Merc 454 MPI's Falmouth, MA

For the last two years prior to this we kept the boat on the cape for a month. Was on the boat 4 nights a week. Kids scattered and lost the dog sitter. She's a 14 YO golden and to old to boat. That's my excuse! Let me know if any of you diesel owners are moving on. I'm always looking. But, big Cats scare me.

I've used the boat less than I'd like this summer, about 250 nautical miles , maybe a little more. In years past I've put on as much as 1000 miles so it's down . I think everyone seems to be busy doing other things these days. Boats are one of those things that we dream about using and plan on all the things we're going to do, ad then reality gets in the way.My excuse is that I don't have a steady girlfriend and it's hard to make travel plans by yourself.

My problem, no one wants to go. My wife, my kids, and grandkids would rather use the 24 Carolina Skiff. It's starting to get old just looking at the boat in the backyard and never using it. I still have plans or should I say dreams of taking it to Florida for the winter but I'm beginning to think that will never happen.

All I use my Bert for is fishing and I use mine as much as the weather down here allows me to. Which has ended up being around 900 hours in 5 years. This year has been the exception for me though. The beginning of the year had us fishing quite a bit and then the stator on the generator decided to short out. It took me a couple of months to round up the tools and parts I needed to fix the genny but I finally got it fixed and back in the boat. As of late that pesky work thing has been getting in the way, and now the stbd engine alternator is acting up. Just took it off the boat this evening.

Make me an offer I can't refuse![:D] All these non-use posts really suck considering how cheap fuel has been the last 2 seasons. I filled up with diesel in early August for $1.66 per gallon. Sadly, that will be the one an only time I get fuel this season. At least I filled up the 20 twice and filled my dinghy's 6 gallon tank up multiple times.

I am moving on for sure. As in, did survey already and sea trial Saturday on the new boat. I have someone interested but no money changed hands yet - and a drop dead option if need be so the clock is ticking - make me a reasonable offer and it is yours. I am not getting stuck with 2 boats. Ask anyone who's seen mine. It is very nice shape. And, no I do not have a great set of pictures - needs a visit. It's in Falmouth. 315 Yanmars... boat has been yard maintained for 15 years.. list o new shit is too long.
Tire kickers! And, I suspect that could go on for some time to come. Sad part is people shit when they see the boat but as we all know that does translate into a sale. I continue to be baffled why these boats with such a great pedigree do not hold their value like so many others do. Like I tell my wife, it's an expense, not an asset!
