Transom fiber board - Calling Doug

Post by Spidermw81 »

Doug, I know you told me once on this site but I think that thread is gone b/c of the hacker. I couldn't find the old thread. What is the type of board that you recommended to use to replace the transom fiberboard? My stream cleat ripped off a awhile back and broke the board. I need to get it replaced. You mentioned arborite, elegant white. Not sure of the material type of finish. Also, do you know a place I can get it at? Thanks for the help again!!!

Doug, I ended up just getting some seaboard in white. It will do the trick. Thanks!

Matt, Here's what I used: http://www.arborite.com/standard-collec ... gant-white I got mine from Atlantic plywood. I think the finish was matte. Unfortunately, the thread with the exact sizes is missing. F*cking hacker.

Doug, How did you mark the holds for the cleats? I am guessing you used the old one as a template... I don't have the old one anymore. Any recommendations on how to get the new hold placement lined up on the new boards? Thanks.

I did use the old ones. My only suggestion is to measure (twice)!

Thanks Doug. I am going to try and get an impression with a marker or some sort of dye and then measure to confirm.

Home Depot sells heavy "Builders" paper. I'd make a paper pattern before I started cutting & drilling. The slight curve may throw off any measurements just enough?
