High water alarm?

Post by shaker »

Anyone have trouble with a high water alarm go off and on in rough water? When we brought the boat home it was rather rough and the high water alarm started going off and on when we got into the crap. A little unnerving having just purchased the boat. A good friend carefully climbed down from the bridge and checked the bilge and it was dry. I did find the high water float in the forward compartment not working after having the boat on the hard. Just curious if anyone else had this happen.

Probably just a faulty switch or loose connection wire.

If it was while you were running it was the stern alarm. If your buddy checked the bilge in the salon he would not see the water depth at the transom. I forgot to turn on my stern pump to auto and after a while the alarm started to go off every now and then. Flicked the switch to auto and the alarm stopped. Check to see if your transom pump float is set right. Meaning is it letting too much water to build before it kicks on.

Capt'n Charlie's got it. You need to make sure your aft pump is on auto and is working. Rick Ticket 85 SF Merc 454 MPI's Falmouth, MA

Thanks Guys. I knew someone has been there....done that. I will check the stern float switch and auto switch. It was going on and off while we where running so that makes sense.
