quote:Originally posted by IRGuy Fender racks on the bowrail are practical, and look nautical! I could not disagree more with that statement. I'll admit they are very practical, but I don't think they look nautical at all. Again, my original comment was meant as a joke. I can see why someone would own/use them.

I have a 10'10" hard bottom that I keep on the bow. I had it on the foredeck and boy what a pain in the @$$ it was when docking and tying lines. I saw an old Egg had it across the front windows, I gave it a shot and it rides nicely, just need to be careful of the forward white running light. A little more difficult getting to the bow but not unmanageable, and definitely opens up the bow. Going to try it more next year and see how it works.

I have an 8'6" rigid bottom. I keep it on the bow. With the pontoons at the base of the windshield, the bow is just behind the bow cleats. Not thrilled with the way it looks and it can be a PITA for the wife and I to launch, but davits are not an option for me.

I used to keep it on the bow all the time, backwards flipped upside down. Now we keep it on the dinghy rack at the club, unless we're going away for a weeks vacation. Then we'll grab it and throw it on the bow. I just think it looks like ass on the bow, unless you have a set up like Ron's boat.

Wow Doug! You man handle that RIB on to the fore deck? I think we are just going to go with a set of weaver davits. Our usually cruising destinations require a dingy. We usually don't get slips. We either anchor or use moorings.

I got the lightest one I could find. Its an AB and weighs 95lbs. It ain't easy, and as my wife and I get older it will get more difficult.

Inflatable floor. Weaver removable snap davits, merc 3.3. Can't get easier than that.

Listen girls my boat does not have fenders. I thought they are for cars. Men driving boats don't need fenders. Big orange balls ok but fenders come on guys.[:D]

Only one, Doug? I had one left after the Pats slammed the Jets. Now after the Fins game, I've got none left. Joe Tomaini 1988 Sportfish Attitude Adjustment II Fort Lauderdale, FL

Great job by Miami yesterday Joe. You kind of feel sorry for the Jets with their Safety down & out. That seriously weakened their defense. But what the hell, let 'em suffer. Rick Ticket 85 SF Merc 454 MPI's Falmouth, MA

I didn't see the game but their offensive hasn't been spectacular anyway. The D has been carrying the team like a piano and Leannord (sp?) was the leader of it's formations. Huge loss....it can happen to any team, including us. They'll be back next year for sure, but they're done like a Sea Ray in 10 foot sea's. Rick Ticket 85 SF Merc 454 MPI's Falmouth, MA
