New owner of a 35
New owner of a 35
Hello I'm a new owner of a 35 convertible. I have been lurking here for quite sometime trying to learn all I could about these boats. Purchasing the boat late in the season I have been rather busy trying to get everything safely winterized for the long winter. Brought the boat to her home port in less then ideal conditions with winds out of the NE at 26 knots and gust to 33 knots. Wow what a ride! Has anyone replaced the coring on the cockpit hatches? I did a search here on the forum and didn't find anything. I'm thinking it shouldn't be too hard using the existing framing. I would like to reuse the factory cockpit floor covering and getting the coring removed might be a challenge. Thanks to the owner of this site. It is a great source of information. Also thanks to all the members here for your contributions.

Barry, Welcome aboard. Always nice to have another owner join us, especially someone from Mass. Tell us a little about your boat. Year? Gas/Diesel? How you use it? Where you keep it? etc... If you typr in re-cored into the search function you will see a lot of topics. Many of have tackled this issue already.

Thanks Doug, I will do another search here for more info. The boat will be used as a cruiser. The boat will be kept in New Bedford. She has 3208 cats. It was the boat that was advertised here and on THT from Falmouth MA. She surveyed pretty well with some small issue. The previous owner took very good care of the boat. I have lots of projects in mind. So far I have changed out all the fluids and ran anti freeze thru everything. Replaced raw water impellers. Changed out gen set raw water hoses. Installed a new Garmin radar and GPS sensor with wiring thru the hardtop tubing down to the bridge. Not sure how I'm going to mount the MFD 5212. I would like to build something so I could flush mount it. With the weather turning so cold it looks like the projects will slow down or come to a stop. Barry On the hard in New Bedford...... Congrat's Barry!!! and welcome aboard! If she was in anywhere near the shape the pictures showed you got a great boat! As for the re-coring, searh here and over on B31. It's not a terrible project and on the B35 the whole cockpit comes out real easy if repari is needed beyond the hatches. Feel free to ask questions and don't forget to share experiences it's what makes this a great site! br,

Thanks to all for the warm welcome. I now find myself looking at every Bertram I see. We were at Oak Bluffs on Columbus Day weekend and we saw at least one but possibly two 33 Bertrams back up to the wall. Chris, We will probably see you out on Buzzards Bay sometime next summer. Charlie, Thanks for your help and replying to my earlier emails. Kaikoura, We just flew in from a week stay in AZ. What a shock to the system coming back to this cold weather. John, The boat is in fairly good shape as the pictures show. However even with a few pre-purchase visits to see the boat,a complete survey taking 7 1/2 hours, two oil analysis, and three cat techs looking things over there are things that need attention like any boat. I'm not knocking the previous owner. He a good job taking care of the boat. When I do the repair to the hatches I will start a thread and try to post pictures. What great site......... Doug is that your boat in the video on youtube leaving Cuttyhunk??? Barry
