It stands to reason that if your tank seemed OK before the work was done that it is OK now.

Heinz, A second recommendation to replace you tank if needed is Bay Boat Works in North East MD, Speak to Don Green (Owner) he did the tank in my 35 and did a great job and was very reasonable, I would highly recommend him if that convenient to where your boat is. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.. Good Luck, Mike

Good morning Doug, I have been doing well thank you for asking, how about yourself? Did you have a good boating season? The boating was great on Lake Ontario this year but for me, the fishing was slow, if you ever want to try some Salmon fishing let me know love to have you up to wet a line or just take a cruise on the the lake. My boat is running excellent I have added a few new things since we met awhile ago, Radar and Lee Outriggers they really make the boat look like a Bertram now. Take care and hope to hear from you again. Mike..

Mike, Thanks for the invite. Glad to hear things are going well. Tim, I'd fish, but I prefer to run someone else's boat and let them fish. I do it on Bill's boat all the time.

Doug, I would be happy to let you run the boat, usually I never get a chance to fish because I'm running the boat. Mike.

Mike, I would love to run your boat. We'll have to work on it for next year. FYI: I've run Tim's boat as well, though not for very long.

I’ve thought about repowering with diesel but considered the return on investment prohibitive. I assume that one has to replace not just the engines but also the trans, exhaust, cooling system and shafts as well. Is there a market for used Mercruiser? Who would investigate whether the tank has failed - a marine surveyor? The mechanic and marina is not giving me much to work with. quote:Originally posted by dougl33 I doubt that your tank has failed. I ran 1500 gallons of ethanol through my tank back in 2006 before I re-powered with diesels. I never had a single issue. Good question. Should I call the manufacturer of the filtering system. This thought occurred to me. There would be a miss match between the fuel pump to filter pressure ratio or something...... The old lines may be leaking when the system is under pressure. quote:Originally posted by BECCA ROSE Can a higher micron filter cause to much pressure somewhere? I am interested in trying your recommendation. The caveat is that the gas was pumped out of the tank. I am meeting John from Worton yard tomorrow and will pass this on. Why didn't my mechanic think of this? I'd come up to MA, however, a bit cost prohibitive on gas engines. Hopefully there will be a B33 rendezvous any time soon. quote:Originally posted by franklyprice I think you wasted your money on the "higher micron" filtering system. If it caused any leaks though it is because it was improperly installed. I also agree with Doug that your tank itself is probably OK , it's most likely a leak in a filter housing or a gasket on the tank or maybe the vent tube ?? I would close the fuel valves, put a couple pounds of air pressure on it and see what leaks. Bring it up here, I'll find it for you.. Thanks Mike. I had a 28' Wellcraft at Anchor for 10 years, it is convenient. I looked at a 35' Bertram Convertible for sale at BBW, it was in the shed - was that your boat? quote:Originally posted by Mike_Lenz Heinz, A second recommendation to replace you tank if needed is Bay Boat Works in North East MD, Speak to Don Green (Owner) he did the tank in my 35 and did a great job and was very reasonable, I would highly recommend him if that convenient to where your boat is.
