My summer picture is a blue marlin at the transom of the Bertram! This was the fifth raised this summer! Only 175 pounds but a great fish! Bertram 33 the marlin raising machine! Here they are Tom. It seems to me that you enjoy cruising more than fishing which is our case too. The FBC is perhaps what you need because of the larger living space for extended trips. Bear in mind that what you see in the Blue Chip now has been done over an 8 year period, not overnight. I think it is a matter of finding the right boat and outlining a master project to be carried in accordance to your resources. I think we all have a dream boat. After 20 years cruising through the Bahamas and the Florida Keys next to much larger and sophisticated vessels I know which is my dream boat, our Blue Chip. She is reliable, relatively easy to handle by my wife I and myself only and not too expensive to maintain. There is always room for improvement. I could use a water-maker in the far islands. One hundred more gallons of diesel would be nice (700 lbs. heavier)and also a pair of electronic Cummins 355hp (1400 lbs. lighter and narrower).
