Jen Rissa in MTK at last!!

Post by Buy2ls »

Finally after 6 months of projects and waiting our new to us 33 Bertram is in our slip in Montauk, NY. Saturday, I ran the boat from Glen Cove to Montauk,NY working against some sloppy conditions, it was blowing 10-15kts and gusting to 20kts, and for extra measure the wind was against tide as well. These conditions persisted for 3 out of my 4 hr trip. The seas where mostly 2-3ft. and choppy with the ocassioanl 5 footer mixed in for good measure, none of which slowed me down, btw. All said it ended up being a true test of the newly installed equipment and thier installations, as nothing came loose or broke and everything worked as intended. After a much needed desalting I snaped the following pics. Thanks for all of the forum's advice and compliments on my new boat. After taking it apart and working on the the boat I really appreciate the Bertram quality that quite a bit more than skin deep. FYI I put a new ducer in and the bottom is 3/4" solid glass. I see that your GPS receiver is below the Furuno radar dome. Do you notice any interference from the radar signal affecting your gps? Don, Mystic, CT

Nice. What is the pump on the right? Looks like you have 2 high water alarms at different levels. Nice to see the wood plugs as well.

The pump on the right is a sump that gets the rest of the water out of the bilge when the main can no longer stay primed.

I was amazed by the thickness of the hull when I replaced a couple of through hull fittings one about a foot in from the port side and a foot in from the transom (3/4 inch thick...the other was a 1 1/2 inch through hull forward near the keel. I didn't measure, but I too have ben saying it is 3/4 inch thick. At 22,000lbs, thy had to put some extra glass some where. By the way the boat looks great!

I popped out a 1" piece for a transducer, I was impressed. No wonder these things bounce off rocks.

Yeah it works pretty well, gets most of the water out. It may have used that 2nd float switch. When I rewired the cockpit I might have eliminated it? Stop over Rich, I would be happy to go over it with you if you like. Will be down this Friday night and Sat. C dock Jeff

I will stop over, look forward to see all the good work you have done. You arrived after I left on Saturday. Sunday we managed 2 keeper Fluke with over 35 shorts on the south side. Good to be out again. See you soon.

Capt'n Rich - Just curious....what's the minimum size for keeper Fluke down there. We're 18.5 inches & can't fish until this Saturday. Rick Ticket 85 SF Merc 454 MPI's Falmouth, MA
