Rub Rails

Post by a300mike »

Does anyone have any expierence in replacing the aluminum rub rail on a 1988 33' Bertram FBC model? Is it at all practical? and is there enough boat to attach the rail without having to completely tear the boat up from the inside to thru bolt the new rail Mike

Mike, read David Pascoe's article on the Bertram 33 SF linked on this site. He speaks of replacing rails. I have a friend who did it on a Bertram 42. Looks good but it cost a bundle to do...I don't think I would attempt it by myself. Good Luck. Will Newton 1989 FBC 33

I did the rails over on my 1977, I refastened the original rail and then capped it off with 1" stainless steel half round. Looks good and it made the rail stronger.
