New to the Board
Hi, First time on this board. My partners and I just moved up from our beloved 28' Bertram to a 1983 33'! I'm sure I will have lots of questions and ask for advice as this is a lot more boat. got it delivered from Florida last week and it's in the boat yard. Some stress spiders on the sides. We have 3208TAs. Anybody venture as to the fuel usage we should expect? We're in Texas... long way out to get to good water! Cheers PS anybody in the market for a gas engine 28 Bert?

Welcome aboard!! You have found a wonderful place to find out anything you want about these great boats. You will be thrilled with the extra 10,000 lbs of weight under you. I'm on the SC coast and we have to run 60 to 70 nm burning somewhere around 165 to 190 gallons depending on the weight and the bottom growth. I'm running 350 hp Yanmars making about 22 knots on average. I think the Texas runs can be close to 100 miles. Is that correct? I am sure someone on here can give you plenty of 3208 advice. You can also use the "search" option on the top of the page to look for old posts on different topics that may be of intertest to you. Good luck with the new boat. Sbuschang... Welcome to our sandbox! You have one of the best 33' boats ever built! And here you will find answers to almost all the questions you can ask about our boats. You did not mention whether yours is a FBC (flybridge cruiser) or a SF (sport fish) model.. both are based on the same hull.. but different cabin and cockpit configurations. If you have engine boxes extending into the forward end of the cockpit you have a SF.. if the engines are completely under the cabin floor you have a FBC (as I do). My boat is also an '83, and originally had Cat 3208s. These were 260 HP, but before I bought her 5 years ago she was repowered with 315 HP Cummins 6Bs. There are several owners here who still have the original Cats, I am sure one of them will chime in with running and fuel burn info. Feel free to ask about anything here.. there is almost always someone who has an answer.

Thanks Ya'll Yup we have some long runs. That is why my interest in the fuel consumption. Floating rigs start at 140miles from the end of the jetties. May need to take extra. We have the sportfish model. Can't wait to spash her! We're working on the elecronics now. Some issues with the Auto Pilot and a burned screen in the GPS

Welcome aboard. I also went from a 28 (1981) to a 33 (1986). I have Cummmins, but I have Bertram spec sheets for 2 years (1984 and 1987). Both show the fuel burn for the 3208T's at 22gph at 2500rpms. Depending on what you load the boat with I'd say that should get you 19-20 knots at cruise. Are you sure you have TA's? If so, I don't think they're orginal.
Regards, Doug L.
