Wanted: Bertram 33' SF

Post by peter »

I am looking for a Bertram 33' SF. Does anybody know the following boat (according to www.yachtworld.com): name: "Lady Barb" year: 1988 location: Jacksonville FL engines: Cummins 5.9/330hp hours: 533 price: $ 139'000 Is the other 33' SF listed at $ 135'000, also located at Jacksonville (same year, same engines, name: "Roger That"??) the same boat? Any opinions on this or recommendation regarding an other 33' SF would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot! Peter

Peter, from the photo's they are different boats. At those prices neither one is going away anytime soon. Take your time and look at as many 33's you can. Read past threads from this site to learn the strengths and weak spots of these boats. Ask questions, do not believe anything a sales person/broker tells you about any of the boats you look at. Always get a seperate hull and engine survey from a recommended pro after you determine you have found the boat you want at the right price. Always be prepared to walk away even after you may have paid for a survey if some extensive problem has been found with the boat or systems. Good Luck, looking is half the fun. Do you live in FL?

Cliff, Thank you very much for your quick reply. I have read a lot on this very interesting site. I live in Europe and the boat would have to go to the Azores. There is no Cummins or Caterpillar rep on the island, only Yanmar. But there is no 1986 or later SF with yanmars on the market. Regards and thanks again Peter

You might want to look under the members section for Symeon Tsalicoglou and his thread 33SF "Right Stuff" There is a link to this boat he looked at earlier in Greece. It's has Yanmars, might still be for sale. Greece to Lisboa on its on bottom then ship to the Azores. Just a thought.

Peter, Interesting enough I just saw this boat a month ago while holidaying in Saint Tropez which gege has listed here, It was parked on the hard standing outside the Bertram dealer's yard on the road to Saint Tropez. I stopped and checked it out and from what I saw, it looked in very good condition, the gel coat was excellant.I took a couple of photos and if you want I can post them on this site. Regards Aussie Syd

Syd, Yes, I would appreciate your posting of the pictures on the site. St. Tropez is somewhat closer to my home than Florida. Sorry for the late reply. Thank you very much and regards Peter

That boat looks like a beauty, weird that it doesn't have a bimini. Rick Ticket 85 SF Merc 454 MPI's Falmouth, MA

Rick, Not all that odd to not have an enclosure in other countries. Not sure why but most I've seen on the other side of the pond have a sunshade over the cockpit with no enclosure on the bridge. Maybe lots of low bridges to go under??? The other oddity is that they will almost always have the fenders hanging over the side, sort of like they're proud of them or something. Go figure..

Frank - I've noticed that about the fenders too, they probably learned it from me? Rick Ticket 85 SF Merc 454 MPI's Falmouth, MA
