Ebay boat shopping/listing
Ebay boat shopping/listing
Its no secret I would like to sell my 33fbc. I placed an add on E Bay. I didn't expect to sell the boat but maybe find an interested party. My experiences are: Untold phone calls from boat brokers and Internet advertisers. The how low will you go bottom feeders with the ten thousand dollar offers. The trade your boat for my car, motorcycle or some other item. Then the I want to buy it your boat but will overpay you and send me the rest of the money. Overall if you are selling a high ticket item I would go stay away from ebay. If you do list on ebay use it as advertising and expect a fair number of low offers. I did find that if you have a higher starting bid there was very little charge for the service. The reserve price is what really matters as that's your selling price and I also had some questions as to my reserve. Overall with a one month run I did not get one serious buyer. I did learn a lot about using ebay! Captain Larry Wren 305-360-4900 www.apirateschoice.com

Ebay is a great marketing tool, and not to be overlooked. It's almost too easy to contact people somewhat anonymously however. People ask ridiculous questions and make offers they never would in person is the biggest problem. If you can handle the time to pass them off, there are people who are looking to buy there. Out of three boats, I bought two there (including my current 33) and sold one, all reasonable deals.

I would think the more places you promote your boat the easier it would be to sale. Even if no ones buys it on ebay you are having more people look at it. Larry, I think you have your boat priced where it will sell. At this price you should have a lot more lookers. I would be interested if I didn't own a boat. Buzz

My problem is I want to sell the Bertram 33 FBC but have to have my new boat to replace the Bertram. I have not really advertised the boat to seriously as of yet. I like the users on this site and really only list the boat here. I did try ebay and was over all a little disappointed int the listings. The boat listings do not move the way other items do as they get closer to the end of listings. You sort of stay on page three or four. I have tried to sell other items on ebay (40 foot diesel pusher motor home and the same 25cents on the dollar offers). The net is such a great place to find things but how do reach REAL buyers? lwren, Try the fixed price listing on ebay, It only costs like 8 dollars and no commision, here is link to the 30 Grady I want to sell, I sold my 40 Monaco Diplomat motorhome in 6 weeks from a lead generated by ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... ESELX%3AIT Also you need to take the time to have the best pics of whatever you are selling as well as a lot of them. Try to present it as close to new looking as possible, you never get a second chance to make a first impression, ie no lose equipment hanging around, everything clean not broken remove all traces of "you" people don't want to see that. You have a nice looking boat from your sig pic good luck. Jeff
Thank God it's a Bertram
