Tranducer Converter? ??

Post by jcrootbeer »

Hi All, When I purchased all the Garmin eqiupment last year, I got the expander for when I would need to change over radar, sonar, etc. I tried to use the cable in the electronics box that was there for the Furuno fish finder, but it is not compatable with the Garmin expander unit. Is there a converter adapter available to allow my existing tranducer to plug into the Garmin expander? Or must I put in a Garmin tranducer? Thanks, and hope all are ready for the summer!

Jerry, Are you talking about the connector that plugs into the Fish Finder ? If so, then yes I'm sure you can find an adapter at an Electronics Store or some place on line. You really want to change the connector itself. Not a big deal, just make sure you match the impedance....probably 75 ohm, but definitely check the book and make sure. Thanks Rick, Yeah, the end that plugs into the Furuno display unit must now plug into the Garmin expander, thus allowing it to display on the chart plotter split screen. I'll take a stroll over to the marine electronics store and see what they offer.
