Coming up Danvers River

Post by Rick »

Yo Doug, Frank and the Beverly gang, I launched yesterday but it's going to take me another week or so to be ready for the trip to the cape. Wondering if there's any chance we can meet up when I make the trip ? I'm probably making the trip sometime around 26th or 27th next week.....weather permitting. All running good, but gas gauge and head aren't working.....what else is new !

Rick, Boy you don't waste any of the good weather, do you? My boat won't be in until sometime in May.If you're talking about meeting at your boat , I'm in, I'd love to check it out. I remember May as being kind of a non-boating month due to wind, so no hurry to get it in the water but this nice weather has me re-thinking that theory. What was your plan? Frank Price

Frank, Kept it in Danversport over the winter and they are installing new water lines. So with all ground dug up, the very dry but windy weather and all the trucks bombing by, it was ugly in there ! Did all my mechanical work over the winter and as soon as I got it waxed, I wasted no time. Took it to the dock, washed it and I think with all the mud I took off, It's almost aground in that same slip ! Besides, May is great month for Stripers on the cape. Thanks for the help on the stuffing boxes......they're dry as a bone ! No plan really except to finish what I started and get to the cape. But since I knew that I'd be going your way, I thought I'd see what we could do. If you drive into Danversport, you can see it right out in front of the restaurant, I'll be stopping by from time to time but not today.....I need a day off !

Rick, Congrats on getting the boat splashed so early. I'm confused though. Are you looking for a crew for your ride to the Cape? Regards, Doug L. 1986 33 Bertram FBC Queen Elizabeth

Doug, You're welcome to come along.....haven't really planned the day or the crew yet, still need to get a few things done before the voyage. But really just looking to meet up, have a cold one and talk about boats and women ! Not sure when you guys are around but from past messages it sounds like weekends are best. I'm retired from the Integrated Circuit business and have time during the week when I'm not running around with the kids. So maybe we should just meet up on the boat at Danversport this weekend ?

Doug, Sounds good. Earliest I could do it during the week is Tuesday, April 26th. Does that work for everyone ?

Rick, I could do the 26th in the evening, if it works for everyone, count me in. I may be able to pop in for a quick look sooner also, if sop I will. Frank Price

Frank, Tuesday night the 26th works, I'll be there unless I've already left for the cape which is very unlikely at the moment. Doug thinks he can make it too, I should at the boat by 5:30. If I do end up going to the cape, I'll let you guys know before then. Take care, Rick

Gents, As it turns out, Tuesday is looking like the only day in the near future that is good for going to the cape. My apologies, didn't think I'd be ready so soon but things have gone well and I think that I'd better get out while the getting is good. If the forecast holds as is, I'll be leaving Tuesday morning. But I'll be around the boat tomorrow (Sunday), especially in the morning if anyone wants to drop for some coffee. Take Care, Rick

Sorry I missed out on Sunday morning. We had a party at the club for a friend who just returned from Iraq. I was in no shape to show yesterday morning anyway. Rick, Good luck with the trip down. It looks like tomorrow is going to be the nicest day of the week. I may try and take it off to work on the boat. Regards, Doug L. 1986 33 Bertram FBC Queen Elizabeth Marblehead, MA

Rick, It was nice to meet you and to see your boat. You've done a great job with the cleaning and waxing, it's hard to believe mine will ever get that clean after all this wood work I've been doing. I also really liked your engines, particularly the way they are set back, a good thing I think. It's nice to see a boat taken care of for a few years by someone who cares about it, it shows. Have a good trip to the cape, maybe we'll hook up sometime this summer. Frank Price

Frank, Thanks for stopping by and great to meet you too. Just got back from the cape and all went well. Had nice flat sea's in Cape Cod bay and just a little breezy in Buzzard's. Boat ran good....port engine was coughing a little as I accelerated at the end, so I'm not sure what's up with that but it'll give me something to do the next time I go there. Besides that though, it was sweet. Everything came right back to life and I fixed my converter & gas guage by the way, so we're in pretty good shape. Nice to see the compliments from someone who knows so much about these beasts. You caught me at the perfect time........when I just finished waxing ! Believe me though.....she's got her battle scars when you look close. Thanks again Frank, look forward to future meetings. All the best, Rick
