muffler leak?

When I pulled my deck up to repair the core it really wasn't that hard a job once I got the caulking out. When I put the deck back in I didn't use 5200. Buzz buzzk 1988 Bertram 33 FBC Buzz Off Morehead City, NC

Exactly right. DON'T use 5200. Mine was 5200 in the first time I pulled it up. I assumed at some point I'd have to pull it up again. I think the ladder is the biggest pain. I cut an access port in the "floor" of the side storage areas to access the forward end of the muffler. I can tighten clamps and I fixed a hole in the muffler itself probably caused by over tightening hose clamps. It is useful access point. I installed a plastic deck plate fitting so nothing goes down the hole.

Peter, A previous owner had cut a 12" x 5" hole (approx)in the floor of one of my cockpit side lockers to access the hose clamps just like Ron did. thanx Brian how are u and the family, i am still going to lift the cockpit deck so i can get a look in there and also replace the gas filler hose and look at the other muffler, and then i might do the same on my boat for future repairs if needed . right now i dont know where the leak is all we know is that it is coming from that area.. have a great summer, its already 90 degrees here in miami...Pete

The family is doing great! It will be much easier with the deck off and I'd go with 2 T-Bolt clamps on front and back of each muffler, just don't overtighten and crack the fiberglass. well guys you wre RIGHT AGAIN it was just the clamps boy what a BITCH to peel the silicone of the edge of the cockpit i was able to pull it up and my mechanic slid in there and replaced the clamps, it got dark so i will be srapping the rest of the silicone and re-siliconing in the next day or two, any choice for silicone??? and BRIAN i would be GLAD to send some warmth up your way it was 96 here yesterday and it cooled down to 91 today.. Hey Brian.....was looking through some old Bertram pictures and came across pictures I took of NSN while she was in PP's shed. Pics of engine room, underneath, and more. If you don't have enough of you own let me know, I'll send'em along. ....One of these days I'd like to take a ride in your "new" NSN. I'm still in the same spot at PP. I too just unscrewed bridge ladder, screws around cockpit deck, and spent another few hours cutting out sealer around seam, to remove cockpit deck. I'm in the process of replacing my fuel tank. Marina in Branford is still working on several Berts (seems mostly 31's) replacing gas fuel tanks and/or gas engines. This ethanol-gas realy seems to be quit problem. Glad to hear you and family and NSN are all doing well...have agreat summmer. Ken

Ken, I'll take the pictures off your hands sometime for historical perspective. I'd be happy to take you for a ride this summer too. I'm still at Guildford Yacht Club. Are you still doing the inside storage in Branford each winter? How reasonable is the cost? I'm sure it is very convenient.
