Anchor........again

Post by smanni »

We figured out (at least one of you guys did) that our boat came standard with a Danforth S 920 - which is a 14 lb anchor. A few of you have posted that you are using 35 + lb anchors. Is that accurate? Mike - I think you said you use 3/8 inch three strand line. I currently have 5/8 and 3/4. I am looking at buying 1800ft of new line and Im looking at (3) 600 ft sections of 1/2 inch. How has yours held up so far. I have been using a 17lb anchor - but once again, twisted it up. I rebent it and I am saving it as a wreck anchor. But im gettinf another new one. I eas going to get the origonal S920 - so that it fits my holding area and less carrying back and forth to the bow.

I have a 25lb anchor with 2000'of 1/2" double braid rope. Check out Knot+Rope Supply. They will make up any length you want and are very reasonable.

I use three shots of 1/2" 1800'. My anchor is a big plow or Bruce I think that is what it is called. Plus 40' of chain. The Bruce will reset better if or should I say when the tide swings. Charlie

Charlie - thats what I plan on getting. EBAY has brand new 600'sections of 1/2 inch 3 strand nylon for 119. I saw a great connection link at the canyon runner seminar last week that I want to find. It was a way to connect each section together simply and in about 1 second. I just have to figure out what to do about an anchor now!
