crane for dinhy

hello everyone long time i dont post , any way i was wondering if anyone on here has installed a lift, davit, crane what ever its called on the bow (deck) of 33 fbc before and what brand or type. I have a very light 110# inflatable with a little yamaha 4hp 4 stroke about 45 lbs. and i need to find something to lift it with the motor on to my deck ,PLEASE ANY SUGGESTIONS... The picture of Doug's boat has a small boat on the bow maybe he can help you. Where would you get the support for a lift, run it through the deck in the closet in the vee birth. Would that leave enough room for a boat too? I've seen the connections to mount one on the swim platform but never a lift on the bow of a 33 Bertram. thanx buzz i will do that but the more i think about it the more i ask my self WHY did i buy this thing anyway. The kids enjoy it big time and here in miami fl. we get alot of use so we will see..Pete

My RIB is only 8'6". It weighs around 95 lbs which is just light enough for my wife and I to drag on and off. I have a 10hp 4 stroke (88lbs) hanging on the rear bulkhead. Have you tried Marquipe? They make a lot of lifts. Pricey but good. I think they are made in Pompano Beach. Sailorman in Ft. Lauderdale may have a used one. Buzz buzzk 1988 Bertram 33 FBC Buzz Off Morehead City, NC

Marquip is the davit of choice. At least in So. Fl. I helped a guy put one on a POS Crusiers. Basically the pipe goes all the way thru the deck and into a plate fiberglassed into the hull. It routes between the fwd & rear cabin bulkhead. I think on a 33 it will go right through the middle of your front bunk. Personally I think putting something on the 33 is not a good idea. There isn't enough support in the deck to take the stress. And you can't go all the way down to the bottom for support. I have a 11 ft and a 15 hp. Roll it up and take it to where ever. If I need to move any distance , I just stuff it in the cockpit hanging over (with engine off) and toss it out again when I get to the next anchorage. Gene Dugan Boca Raton, Fl. hey guys thanx for input i have decided to keep my hurley davits and secure the dinghy on swim platform with 2 inch ss straps hooked to ss hardware on swim platform.Since i will be covering the name of my boat on the transom do i have to paint the boats name on the dinghy to comply with coast guard regs.??I am not sure but i would like to prevent a problem with the coast guard. Please help me with that question and thanx again..Pete

I've wondered that myself, but have motored right on by USCG cutters that were pulling over boats coming in from Bahamas left and right, for any particular reason just to search them - with my dinghy tied across my transom and obscuring my name... and they never bother me. I wouldn't worry about it, but it might technically break some rule. Some of these certified Captains here should know the exact answer to that. A friend of mine is in the CG Auxillary & carries a RIB on his swim platform. He did put his boat name on the bottom of the RIB. Al

i thought that was the law just wanted to make sure, my dinghy is horizontal on my swim platform so i will have to paint name on one of the tubes..Thanx again...Pete

Doug can you tell me how you have your outboard motor mounted in the cockpit?
