I know, you are completely right. It ranks just below wanting to win the lottery. Oh, that reminds me, I better check my numbers tonight! David Sumich Bertram33.com Forum Administrator

Doug, It kinda makes me want to go out and buy a silverton. I bet with my new valve seats my numbers will be at least that good. You guys will be jealous...150 to 155 psi in all holes now,how sweet it is.....

Tim You mentioned that they moved your mounts aft. Do you know how far aft they moved? And if they raised or lowered them compared to where they were originally? Also did you have Borg gears before and ZF/Hurth now? Thanks I am just about to drill for my mounts and need the reality check.

Bob, the mounts moved back around 6"the height changed i cant tell you how much off hand other than the forward mounts were lowered i think and the back mounts i dont think changed too much ...i do know that they had to trim width off the mounting plates so the coolers would not hit them.and that they did not set the mounts until they had the motor hanging in its location....i think if you are trying to predict and install the mounts prior to setting the engine that would be a mistake because more than likely they will have to be moved again...yes i went from borg 72 inline trannys to hurth zf down angle..the biggest factor in moving the engines back to meet the angle of the shaft is the finish height of the engine... The Photo Finish is back baby!!! I went for the test ride today....the engines crank faster than a car ignition which i find very cool.they are very quiet at idle.I do not have solid numbers yet as i think the floscans need adjusting they acted weird in that the floscan tachs followed my regular tachs upto 4000rpm then went down from there...the other thing that i hope is not a false reading is that i was only burning 8 gal hour per engine at 3800rpm my props 20x20x3 seemed right on as they were reading 4750rpms max with the mechanics guage...top speed was 28.2knots full of gas and 4 men however all these readings are with my cabinets out so my boat really leaned to port so i dont consider the readings accurate yet since i could not trim properly. They have a few minor details to do so i should get the boat back for the weekend so i will throw in the cabinets adjust the floscan and get better readings....my first reaction is that she really feels powerfull... Great Tim, I wish those really were good flowscan numbers but if they are, those 8.1's are more efficient than yanmars. Wouldn't that be something. I'm looking forward to the all important cruise speed numbers and GPH at different speeds. Tim, You are such a good guinee pig.[:D] Frank Price

I got my resurfaced cabinets back in they look great and got my boat balanced . I took her out for a short ride.she really jumps up on plane quick..you can really feel the difference in the low end power.the engines also seem much quieter.my first floscan readings are as follows: 3200rpm...18knts......26gph 3400rpm...20.5knts...29gph 4750rpm...28.5knts...64gph full gas, half water ,3 pob,no provisions,no beer I will keep track of numbers as the engines get worked in .I am happy with those numbers and am told they should get better with usage. Tim, I just checked Crusader' site. Your motors are rated for 4400-4800 rpms. If you add some diameter and pitch I'll bet you're cruise and top-end will come up and you'll still be in the sweet spot. I'm thinking a 3 bladed 21X21 with a very light cup would be just right. My spares are 3 bladed 21X20. I'm not sure if there's a cup. Let me know if you want me to send them down.
