That's a nice looking boat, I'm not surprised. Congrats! Bill 1989 33 FBC Ipswich, Ma. > ~-------

Doug, Frank and I both used the same surveyor to survey our boats. I was told by the surveyor that a lot of boats have broken forward bulkheads, not just Bertram 33's. The bulheads he pointed out for me to watch out for were under the v births. They didn't extend above the flooring. On my boat the bulkhead was not broken but it would be an easy fix. I have a friend who owns a 58 Hatteras and his bulkhead was broken under his v birth. Buzz buzzk 1988 Bertram 33 FBC Buzz Off Morehead City, NC

Well damn, that seals it. The 33 sucks and the 35 is great. Guess I'll have to put the 33 on a lake, and only take her out on super calm days, as if it were a big pontoon boat. Where can I get a good deal on some zebco's, an maybe a cane pole? Sean "Island Time" 1987 Bertram 33 SF Melbourne, FL

I have been doing this Bertram thing for a long time. All boats have warts. I know where to look on Bertrams. I have inspected and surveyed 100's of Bertrams. The broken bulkheads on 33B's are a common thing. Just like the rotten rear bulkheads on 35B's, the rotten rudder shelves on 28B's, wet foam and rotten transoms of 20B's, cracked lifting strakes on 25B's and the list goes on. I don't really care if it has not been reported here, until now. I own a 20 Shamorck and I am here to tell you it is a poor design, built with low quality workmanship using the cheapest materials available at the time. Now if you go to the Shamrock website fishtheclassic you will see nothing but glowing reports about the boats. In fact I got band from the website by disagreeing and speaking my mind. Compairing me to Pasco is a compliment by the way. He has surveyed more boats then everyone on this website put together. He calls it like he see them warts and all. I do commend those who want to have spirited discussion about our beloved boats. Just don't think for a minute any of them a perfect. Charlie

I kid, I kid... just messing with you Charlie, didn't mean for you to take it personally Sean "Island Time" 1987 Bertram 33 SF Melbourne, FL

CB, I agree, they all have warts. On the 28's I would add rotten engine stringers and on the 33's I'd add rotten cockpits, rotten aft cabin bulkheads, and the issue with the velocijet exhaust. Personally, I had never seen or heard about issues with the forward bulkhead. Doug, I have an FBC. I am the fourth owner and I am lucky enough to have all the previous owners surveys. The bulkhead was repaired at the the time of sale to the second owner. The crack I found in the Fall is not near the bukhead everyone is talking about. It is in the port locker. Looks like something has pushed up aginst the bottom of the floor as the glass blistered up. Flex ? If the weather warms up this week I'll be crawling in there to see exactly whats going on. Brian

If I can get my brother to get off his A$$ and go look at this boat, I will make an offer on it. http://www.yachtworld.com/core/listing/ ... 13104&url= He lives twenty five minutes away from it in Avalon NJ. I would go my self but it is 9 hours drive, and he knows what he's looking at for a pre agreement inspection.
