Hello Doug, The owner of Megatech was very clear in stating that their was no local support in my area. I can live with that since I do most of my service work and when it gets complicated I hire a mechanic to help. These engines are built in Brasil under MB liscense. They are the 366 Euro II Mercedes Benz and they are very popular in 750 type trucks and busses and also motor coaches. I think they have been around for 14 years. Kind of like Cummis 6bt series , been around for some time except the engine is a 6 Liter engine and has a slighlty longer stroke, make a litte more torque than the Cummins and even the Cats. in the same hp. range. The local White/Fright liner dist. in Venezuela also sells the MB line of vans and work trucks /tractor trailers. Some of the MB models sold locally have the same engine, hence / parts. I plan on going down to visit the Megatech plant down in Brazil where they marinize the Mercedes and MWM engines. When I go to Brazil I will be looking for the Megatechs that have been installed keeping an eye open on the way the stand up in time. I am still not 100% sold on the idea until I see the plant and some engines in operational mode. It's worth my visit since the engine cost are very reasonable. I will be travelling some time after the 25th of June. I will let you know how it goes.
