Early Launch This Year

Post by Brian Davin »

Based on my Yacht Clubs launching schedule, I had to launch 4/18. This is the earliest I've been in the water I think. It was a scramble to get the bottom sanded and painted and a coat of wax on prior to launch with all the rainy weather, but I made it. Lot's of small projects to still do this spring while it's at the dock. Perhaps if the weather is good, we might sneak in some early cruising! I am right behind you Brian. Finally got all the outside done. Going to be launched this week. A little center console came into the dock today with their limit of stripers, that really put me into high gear to get her ready. See you guys out there. Mike

Im still 1.5-2 weeks away and thats after shaving a lot of the non essential project list down. I feel like I wait all winter to get started on the boat - then as I get ready to start - work gets busy and I cant make it down to the boat - then.....its to late - I need to get in the water. Oh well - I got some done - just not all of the cosmetic upgrades I intended.

I'm slowly learning to chill out about how "nice" the boat looks. Everyone enjoys it wheather or not the hull is wicked shiny, or the cockpit is spotless, or the carpet is vacummed perfectly. I'll do my best this year with the cosmetic stuff, and just mostly run the crap out of the boat. It's much more fun! thats good - because my cockpit is so beat up it cant be spotless. I am a little crazy about the shiny part. Any boat that is hard fished is tough to keep clean and it has taken me years to accept that - but I keep trying.

I have to admit that I still obsess about the outside. I have always been much less concerned about the inside though. Regards, Doug L. 1986 33 Bertram FBC Queen Elizabeth Marblehead, MA

No nice picture like Rick's, but 1 week ahead of schedule pleasant surprise and I am back in as well. Good un-eventful 66 mile shake down run back to montauk. Enjoy...... Capt Rich Catch 22 1989 33 FBC
