Tim, If you could snap a picture of the Port engine wiring connection and post it , or email it to me , I would sure appreciate it. Old Engines are gone. I have the new ones...OUCH $13,808 ea.with the gears. Soon as the bilge work is done, we are ready to drop the first one in. I tore that center floor out where the battery boxs are...very interesting how they finished that off. I'm glassing a cored fiberglass floor panel in there. No more wood. Gene Dugan Boca Raton, Fl. Capt Gene, Glad to hear you're making progress. I listed my motors last week and have had a couple of tire kickers but nothing serious. Mine are in great shape but without hr meters and having old trans I just hope to get something out of them. I could probably part them out for more... but don't want the hassle. I can’t wait to get started, but dread the work It’s not going to be a relaxing spring at all. Though I’m not pushing any time-clock to get my repower finished, I probably won’t want to take more than a couple of months. Secretly, I’d love to be able to make the Atlantic City Rendezvous with the boat in late July! I know posting pictures can be a pain, but if you happen to have any I’d love to see them, maybe you could e-mail them when things settle down. Gene, I replaced the wood floor under the battery boxes the same way as you're doing. I also replaced the wood floor under the water tank the same way with a fiberboard glassed in. No more wood touching potential bilge water (no rot, no smell). Sounds like you're making good progress, keep us posted. Yes i will. Is there a reason that you want the port not starboard engine wiring picture?

Hi Tim, No it doesn't matter which. We are just going to get the Port in place first and copy it on the Stb. side. I have all the wiring diagrams. We are using a 10 pin Crusader to Merc adapter to run ignition and gauges. I am going to try to use the old alarm system for engine temp etc. They were all wired from the old engine to bussbars on the rear bulkhead. I know I'm going to run out of money before I get to that fancy Crusader stuff I want. They have a plug & play fuel mgt. system + the engine sync/cruise I'd like to have. Gene Dugan Boca Raton, Fl. Gene, Iknow that the Crusader is different than the Merc but when I put my Mercs in I ran all the engine alarms through the origional Bertram Bell alarm in the bridge. What a mistake. It took me most of the summer trying to figure out problems I was have with faulty signals from the engine computers. The Merc has a computer control that monitors all aspects of the system and shuts things down on certain signal. I was getting over rev, overheat, nuetral safety, you name it. But not all at the same time. I spent hours tracking things down and was ready to replace the computers but I finally figured that they couldn't both be bad. I rewired exactly like mec said using their littl buzzer alarm and every thing worked pefectly. I quess that the was some kind of signal cross up through the original alarm. I left that alarm for high water and fire, but all engine alarms are the buzzer. Itested it and it is just as load.

Gene and Bob, My repower guys did just that. Wired to the buzzer alarm that comes with the engine. I still have my fire and high water hooked to the original panel.The new engines have so many safety features built into them that i am sure that if there is a problem it will buzz. Gene I will post pics shortly

Tim/Bob, That is good to know. I assumed that the engine temp was a simple open close circuit and oil pressure was opposite (close when certain pressure is reached. Thanks Tim. I saw the pics. Straight Fwd. Let you know what happens with that when we get that far. Expect to have new engines sitting on the mounts by the end of this week. I didn't get too much accomplished this weekend. Bilge was supposed to be painted yesterday (Sunday), but don't know if they showed up yet. I have a few pics. End of Week 3 : Bit of heartburn this week. First, the Crusader guys rolled one of my engines off the forklift when they went to put it on my Mechanics truck. The broke the manifold and the fuel pump, then tried to tell me nothing happened. I made them get me a new engine. Should be here tomorrow. The guy that quoted me $1500 to do the engine room charged me $3300. I didn't pay him. It's nice, but not $3300 nice. The good news is, the Port engine is in. We only needed to drop the front mounts about 2 in. and block up the rear mounts 2.25 in. I didn't move engines back or anything. It is tight though. Shafts have to be 6.25 in. longer. I'll have them this week. Props are done. 23x25 with a full cup. So the computer says. We'll see. I know they did a friends props that went to the Yannmars and his came out perfect.
