I watched the State of the Union address last week and heard the puch for E-85. Has anyone heard a time frame for the implementation plan ? Rick Ticket 85 SF Falmouth, MA

Presently it is mostly available in the Midwest corn belt region. They are building a E plant in Tampa that is a year or so out.

SAO PAULO, Brazil - President Bush sees the new agreement with Brazil on ethanol as a way to boost alternative fuels production in the Americas and get more cars running on something other than gasoline. Demonstrators upset with Bush's visit here worry that the president and his biofuels buddy, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, really have visions of an OPEC-like cartel on ethanol. Demonstrators warned that increased ethanol production could lead to social unrest because most operations are run by wealthy families or corporations that reap the profits, while the poor are left to cut the cane with machetes. While Bush's nemesis in Latin America, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, is using his vast oil wealth to court allies in the region, Bush is sealing the deal Friday on an ethanol agreement with Brazil where nearly eight in 10 new cars run on fuel made from sugar cane. In January, Bush called on Congress to require the annual use of 35 billion gallons of ethanol and other alternative fuels such as bio-diesel by 2017, a fivefold increase over current requirements. To help meet the goal, the president also is pushing research into making ethanol from material such as wood chips and switchgrass. Frank, I'm wondering if you've been soaking a piece of my old tank in ethanol over the winter ? Any results ? Rick Ticket 85 SF Falmouth, MA

Rick, It's been soaking but no change yet.I keep trying to call the guy from ashland chemical but haven't been able to reach him . So far I have not seen any problems with ethanol in our tanks.

That's interesting Frank. It's great having real data. Between my tank and Al's, looks like we might conclude that if your tank is something like 25+ years old, whether it's gas or deisel; replace it. So far, Ethanol has very little to do with it and age has everything to do with it. Rick Ticket 85 SF Falmouth, MA
